    Kit Carson County Carousel

    Built in 1905, this carousel is one of the few remaining wooden carousels from the early 20th century. The carousel is open daily for rides and tours.

    Summit Springs Battlefield
    Located 16 miles southeast of Sterling, this historic site chronicles the last known Native American battle in the region. Monuments and markers provide information on the events. From I-76, Exit 115 at Atwood. The site is southeast (towards Akron) on Colorado 63 about 5 miles. Turn left on Washington County road 60 and go 4 miles east to a dead end, and then turn right and go a mile south on a gravel road to a windmill and a turnaround.
